Water Treatment Flocculant polyacrylamide (PAM), also known as the 3rd flocculant is formed by the polymerization of acrylamide monomer in the organic polymer, colorless, tasteless, odorless, soluble in water, no corrosion. Polyacrylamide stable at room temperature, high temperature, frozen during the readily biodegradable, and reduces flocculation, so the storage and preparation of dosage, the temperature should be controlled at 2 ~ 55 , the flocculation effect is better, otherwise it will reduce the use of effect.
Flocculating mechanism are: polyacrylamide polar amide groups, amide groups by hydrogen bonds easily adsorbed in the sediment. In addition, polyacrylamide flocculants have a long molecular chain, the length of 100A °, but the chain width of only 1A °, a large number of level of long-chain absorption in the water with a huge surface area, the flocculation is good, also use long-chain bridging between the particles in the flocculation, floc formation of large particles, accelerated sedimentation.
APAM with acrylamide were together before adding alkali hydrolysis process, by granulation, drying, grinding, the product appearance of small white granules or powder-like solid. Anionic PAM flocculants applied to the surface of positively charged particles in the slurry, and cationic compared to its high molecular weight, molecular stretching in the water with larger, so it has good properties of the particles of floc. Suspended solids can be effectively used for mineral separation settlement. Except for blast furnace, aluminum, paper and other waste water treatment, also used in treatment of a city under treatment.
