Under high temperature or boil it may be not precipitates , has wide range solubility and viscosity, namely non-hot gelatin nature; it can exist with water-soluble, surfactants, salt. It is an excellent colloid thickener with high concentration, moisture is twice than methyl cellulose and has good flow accommodative. HEC has protective colloid ability.

1. Used in water emulsion coating: HEC as protective colloid can be used to VAC(vinyl acetate) emulsion polymerization, improve the aggregate system in wide PH polymer system within the scope of the stability. In the manufacture of products that filler pigments stable and provide uniform dispersion thickening.
2. For styrene. acrylate. acrylonitrile made such suspension polymer dispersing.
3. In oil drilling: In drilling well cementing and fracturing operation all kinds of mud, HEC as a thickener, make good liquidity and mud. In drilling, improve mud carrying capacity and prevent water from the mud into the oil reservoir, stable production capacity.
